Jonathan Speirs Jonathan Speirs was born in Scotland in 1958. He trained as an architect and developed a passion for working with light from early in his career as an architect. He co-founded Lighting Design Partnership in 1984. In June 1992 he left to form Jonathan Speirs and Associates in Edinburgh. The following year he formed a working association with Mark Major which developed into Speirs and Major Associates. He is the Director responsible for running the day to day activities of the Edinburgh Studio. He has won numerous national and international lighting awards and lecture widely on lighting design around the world. |
Mark Major Mark Major was born in 1961 and was educated in the UK and overseas. He trained and practised as an architect prior to focusing on the unique relationship between light and architecture. He first met Jonathan Speirs at Lighting Design Partnership before opening his own practice in 1989. In 1993 he formed a working association with Jonathan Speirs and Associates which developed into Speirs and Major Associates. He is the Director responsible for running the day to day activities of the London studio. Mark has won a number of national and international lighting awards and lectured in the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, U.S. and Australia. |

Keith Bradshaw BSc. (Arch); PLDA Keith Bradshaw developed his interest in lighting design through his training in art and architecture at Bourneville College of Art and the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. He has over 10 years experience as a lighting designer having previously worked for KSLD where he worked on projects such as National Parks Gateway Building in Loch Lomond, PIFSS- Kuwait and ThinkTank Science Museum Masterplan Birmingham. During his time at Speirs and Major Associates he has worked on a wide range of projects including museums, historical restorations, retail, theatres, leisure, external and corporate lighting. Selected projects that he has worked on include Newcastle City Centre Lighting Strategy, the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque of Abu Dhabi, Armani Store Ginza Tokyo, Forth Road Toll Bridge Canopy, Index Tower in Dubai, the Royal Victoria Hospital 2b Belfast and the Copenhagen Opera House, which won the award of merit at the IIDA awards in 2007. He has written articles for both the national and international press and has been involved in a number of international workshops and conferences. Keith lives in Edinburgh and is married with two children. |
