One of Speirs and Major Associates’ greatest advantages is that we possess a broad range of skills. Our team has been drawn together from many disciplines including architecture, art, lighting, interior, graphic and theatrical design. Our centrally located London studio is in Emerald Street, home to a small community of architects, designers and creative agencies. It is within easy reach of the City of London, the West End and the South Bank. The unique interior of this former bonded warehouse was designed in-house. The studio is focused around a flexible open meeting space, which can be reconfigured easily to accommodate a wide variety of workshops, meetings and presentations. The Edinburgh studio is at Well Court Hall, with its clock tower, stained glass, minstrel gallery and other unique features. The building, which is located in the picturesque Dean Village in the heart of Scotland’s historic capital, was built in 1884. It was part of a development commissioned by John Ritchie Findlay, philanthropic owner of The Scotsman newspaper, as an experiment in model housing for working people. Now the double-height volume allows for everything from testing ideas with products to parties! Edinburgh airport is easily accessible for the studio which is conveniently located for travel to both UK and international projects. We also enjoy a creative alliance with Focus Lighting Inc., in New York, USA, led by Paul Gregory, a practice with an enviable reputation for cutting edge lighting design. We share technical and design information and collaborate on certain projects. |
