Events Mark Major spoke at Cityscape, Earls Court 26th February 2008 on ‘Lighting London: A series of case studies’. Keith Bradshaw and Iain Ruxton will both be presenting papers at ‘Light Focus 2008’ at 'Light + Build 2008’ in Frankfurt on the 8th and 9th April respectively. Keith’s presentation will be on ‘Lighting Cultural Buildings’ and Iain’s will be about landscape lighting, entitled ‘A Dark and Stormy Night’. Jonathan Speirs will be talking at the 2008 RIAS Conference entiltled ‘Influence at the Intersection; art, architecture, light, landscape’ on 9th May alongside Peter Eisenman, Charles Jencks and the philosopher Alain de Botton. Jonathan has been selected as the Chairperson of the jury for the RIBA Awards 2008 for projects in the Northern Ireland region Jonathan Speirs will be presenting ‘The Visual Value of Light’ with New York based lighting designer Paul Gregory at ‘Light Fair 2008’ in Las Vegas on 28th May. |
- Jonathan Speirs spoke alongside Amarjit Kalsi of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners at the opening of ARC’08 on 11th February 2008. Keith Bradshaw gave a lecture at ARC’08 on February 12th entitled ‘Working with Architects’. Philip Rose gave a lecture at The University of the Creative Arts, Farnham to graduate students on ‘Ten Years in Practice at SaMA’ on 12th February. Jonathan Speirs and Keith Bradshaw presented the Copenhagen Opera House at the first ‘Light on Site’ conference, Copenhagen, 14th February 2008, organised by OSRAM and PLDA in front of 150 delegates from four continents. This included an in-depth lecture on the project, guided tour and lighting demonstration of the project. Congratulations to a SaMA team of Clementine Rodgers, Jessica Zanotto and Chih-Chieh Hwang for winning the 2008 Ready Steady Light Event organised by the Society of Light and Lighting, CIBSE, UK. This temporary lighting event showcases the work of young lighting designers. |
